  • Quiet on set. Lights. Camera Rolling. Action!

All throughout high school and uni/college, I've been acting. Whether they were plays, skits, musicals or silly videos we made for school or church, it was pretty obvious that I had developed a passion for performing.

So once I started uni, I found myself an agent and got right into it. Yes, I had to start out as an extra- cheering from the sidelines, watching a fight, running away from natural disasters (look like an ant in this frame), passenger waiting in the airport, girl at the cafe etc. We were paid casual rates and I was able to go behind the scenes of some of Australia's much-loved soapies. They are big in Australia, but even bigger in the UK. I also did bollywood films and TV Commercials. I loved every bit of it; watching the director explain the background story to the actor, the assistant directors telling us extras where and when to walk in front of the lead actor, learning how actors got into character, what they did on their breaks, how the crew interacted... it was just so fun! I learnt a lot from these experiences.

    FIRST AUDITION

Soon, it was my turn to do the auditioning and I found myself auditioning for actual characters (no more 'girl on bicycle' or 'takeaway kid') on some of Australia's popular crime drama series. On my first audition, I had no idea what an audition would be like AT ALL. I hadn't done acting classes but I just knew I can prove to them I can do it. Turned out, I didn't fit the role (overseas student) and they gave it to someone else. Was I upset? YES. I thought I had it. I prepared for it, I thought I was ready. Casting has to do with a certain look and that's what I had to learn. Apparently, I didn't look Asian enough!? Anyway, I got a phonecall from my agent and they decided to give me another role to play instead! (I  jumped up and down for full 5 minutes in my room after I hung up).

Here's the latest one I did for RUSH.

    RushCollage
Working on this set was awesome. There were so many stunts involved such as car-chases, getting run over by a car, grabbing a driver by his neck while the car is in motion, falling from a building... Yeah well, I didn't do those things. I got injured cos the guy kidnapping me slammed the car door on my ankle as I was entering the car. niceeee. So anti-climatic haha.

Okie dokes, will post more again soon. I'm sorta concurrently updating both my Female blog (www.female50gp.com/2009/blog/author/audrey) and this blog. Remember to vote guys! Appreciate it!

  • Interview with divaasia.com

I'm really enjoying my time here back in Aus. It's a real good time of rest. I'm learning new things about myself everyday and that's what makes me appreciate life a little more. Growing, learning, perservering and building character. What's the next step? I still haven't figured that out yet. Slowly, I know God is teaching and revealing things to me about myself and how He wants me to live for Him.  A pastor once said, "90% of God's will is already in scripture, it's up to us to read the entire bible and know it." I think I'm seeking the 10% now.

I was interviewed by divaasia.com, a subsidiary site of The Straits Times/Asia One. They wrote VERY nice things about me. COOL

  • Community Fun Day

    COMMUNITY FUN DAY! :

Weather was beautiful! The Jam Session was more like a sound-check session but was fun nonetheless. aLio had two screaming girls as predicted (ruth and myself haha). Even though it was only four hours, the preparation leading up to the event were my most enjoyable moments. Early mornings, exhaustion, early lunches, post-lunch lethargy, sore hands from scissors, straining my voice to sing Britt Nicole tunes, KFC... the best.

We were meant to be at the art store but the place was closed. So plan B was planning and discussion at Maccas.

One sign we don't go to a megachurch: when we make our own banners. Note my sewing machine beside me. We were ambitious and thought we would sew the table cloths.

My mum diligently fried the prawn crackers. Loved her getup, had to take a pic.

    See you in three weeks.
Leaving home again for new opportunities.
    Opportunity keeps life exciting.

  • USA and Canada- July/Aug 2009

I wasn't really the photographer for this trip so I don't actually have many photos to show. I was handling the video/camcorder most of the time. But here are some shots from my personal camera.

    East Coast (US- Canada)

Melb - LA - NY (20+ hr journey). When I arrived, it was actually the SAME day I had departed hehe. But eventually I lost that day when I came back to Melbourne :(

NBC Studios, Rockefeller Center/ Observation Deck, Pier 17 - Ship to Ellis Island, MET Museum, Broadway - Chicago, Empire State Building, Madamme Tussaud Wax Museum, Central Park, NY Chinatown, Ground Zero, Wall Street, Times Square, Macy's, Philadelphia, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Airspace Museum, Capitol Hill, White House, Hershey Chocolate World, Corning Glass Musuem, Niagara Falls, Skylon Tower, CN Tower, Toronto Chinatown, Thousand Island, Ottawa Parliament, St Joseph's, Old Montreal, New Montreal, Montreal Chinatown, Quebec, Harvard, MIT, Quincy Market, Brooklyn Tabernacle Church.

Mum and I at Starbucks for breakfast near our hotel in New York

On the way to NBC studios, this caught my eye. Lindy, I'm expecting some good cheesecake from you!

Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island

Streets of New York. This is after watching Chicago on broadway.

Siew Yong and I drinking up at Planet Hollywood after an excellent performance of Chicago.

Jonas brothers and I kicking it off at the Madamme Tussaud Wax Museum. Gosh, I look waxy too.

Audrey: Steven, my schedule is rather tight for your new film. You're going to have to talk to my manager.

Outside the United Nations building. Isn't this piece of work awesome?

On our way to shop at the world's largest Macy store in New York, we meet this bold man!

The Simpson's episode of Lisa visiting Lincoln Memorial for her essay competition was coming alive!

Now to Canada...Outside Ottawa's parliament library. Haha I Heart NY.

A painting at St Joseph's Church in Montreal. It's a picture of Brother Andre in his deathbed. How weird is the pyramid and the eye behind the blue angel? Just like the pyramid and eye on their dollar bill.

Quincy Market in Boston... we were encouraged to try their famous Clam Chowder

...and so I did. It was a bit too creamy to my liking. Wish there were more clams, but that's always the case with places selling seafood right?

West Coast (Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon)

Universal Studios (Hollywood), Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Farmer's Market, The Grove, Las Vegas (Venetian, Belaggio, Stratosphere, Volcano show, Waterfall show), Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Colorado River, M&M Chocolate Factory, Barstow Factory Outlet (Coach, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Sketchers, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger), Hollywood Sign, Rodeo Drive, Staples Stadium, San Francisco City, San Francisco Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Cable Car, Macy's, H+M, Yosemite National Park, Beverly Hills.

Outside Universal Studios in Hollywood/ Universal City.

    Universal Studios

King Kong exhibit. It is actually this tiny model but enlarged on film by Peter Jackson.

Part of Wisteria Lane. Unfortunately they were filming while we were on tour so the set was closed to the public.

Thought this was an awesome shot of Grand Canyon.

Mum and I on the Colorado River. We actually took a helicopter into the Grand Canyon, then took a boat ride along the Colorado River. Cool yeah?

Mum's birthday at a Chinese Buffet place... yet again.

I LOVE the architecture in San Francisco. The weather and the sun was soooOO beautiful here.

Oops, left flash on. This is still SF.

Mum took this random shot of me filming these columns. They're actually sculpture of these women who are meant to overlook the city of SF to protect the place from earthquakes. SF (and rest of California) is earthquake bound area.

Isn't this place just so spectacular!? It's so relaxing and peaceful... until our tour guide yells at us to get on the bus.

Serene... these houses are quite expensive by the way. It's just opposite the picture above.

    Golden Gate Bridge. Misty.

Mum sitting around Yosemite National Park. The background looks like a painting!

    Passport problems
So yes, we had some passport issues... we'll just never know where the pouch with our passports went to. It was either the hotel housekeepers or some random dude that pickpocketed while we were shopping at The Grove.

There was a whole heap of prayers and complications at the airport. To cut a long story short, we got home safe and sound and it was definitely by God's grace. Don't get me wrong, Beverly Hills is an awesome place to stay another week in, but not when I know my passport is missing.

Anyone interested in going to the states now?
